Historical and Cultural Heritage Protected at the Municipal Unit-Duofuli
Shanghai Yan'an Middle Road (formerly Fuxu Road) Lane 504, Duofuli, is a "new style lane" built in 1930. The lane is a brick and wood two-story structure with 66 stone gate houses, arranged in six rows on both sides, with both the main lane and the branch lane wider than those built earlier.
No. 21 in the alley is a standard Shikumen doorway with a cement door frame and smooth lines.
A white plaque on the wall next to the black double-opening gate is a description in Chinese and English:
"The former site of the Eighth Route Army Office in Shanghai(also the New Fourth Army Office in Shanghai)
Promulgated by Shanghai Municipal People's Government on December 7,1977
Issued by Shanghai Municipal Administration of Cultural Heritage"
In fact, the site was announced as a Shanghai Cultural Relics Protection Unit by the Shanghai Municipal People's Government on September 7, 1962
